Arayat councilor killed, village chief wounded in gun attack

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — A town councilor was killed, and a village chief was wounded in a gun attack at around 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 12, in Arayat, Pampanga.
A report reaching Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan, the Central Luzon regional police director, identified the fatality as Municipal Councilor Federico Hipolito. The wounded village chief was Julito Trinidad of Barangay Batasan, Arayat, Pampanga. Both were attacked by unidentified gunmen on a motorcycle in Barangay Telapayong.
Initial investigation revealed that the victims had just alighted from a white Toyota FJ Cruiser with license plate AKA 9514 in front of the barangay hall when the suspects suddenly appeared and fired multiple shots at them.
Both men sustained gunshot wounds and were rushed to the nearest hospital, where Hipolito later succumbed to his injuries. The suspects fled in the direction of Magalang town.
A police investigation is ongoing, and a hot pursuit operation has been launched to identify and arrest the suspects.
