DSWD distributes 3,000 25-kg sacks of rice in 3 Bulacan towns

CITY OF MALOLOS — Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Sec. Rex Gatchalian personally led the distribution of 3,000 25-kilogram sacks of premium rice to beneficiaries of Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program in the towns of Calumpit, Paombong and Obando on October 9.

DSWD Central Luzon office reported that the rice distributed to the 3,000 Bulakeño beneficiaries were part of the smuggled rice confiscated by the Bureau of Customs in a warehouse in Baliwasan, Zambaoanga City.

The rice distribution project of the DSWD was in line with the directive of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to provide rice and other food assistance to the poorest of the poor.

Secretary Gatchalian was assisted by Calumpit Mayor Glorime Faustino in the rice distribution at the Calumpit Institute Gym in the said town.

The rice distribution project then proceeded to Paombong town where the Secretary was assisted by Mayor Maryanne Marcos and finally to Obando town where he was assisted by Mayor Leonardo Valeda at the Barangay Tawiran Covered Court.
