Nico Antonio shares what encouraged him to take the 2025 Bar Examinations after years of graduating from law school.
In an interview with Bernadette Sambarano on her latest YouTube vlog, Nico opened up about a long-delayed dream. Although he graduated from law school back in 2014, he revealed that he chose not to take the bar exam right away.
According to Nico, the people closest to him—his mother and his wife—were actually the ones who discouraged him. “Hindi kita nakikitang abogado. You don’t have the lawyer material in you,” they told him.
Explaining why, Nico candidly admitted, “May temper kasi ako, and I’m very emotional. Sabi nila ang abogado dapat kayang kontrolin ang emotions—very cerebral. Hindi mo dapat ipinapahalata sa tao, lalo na sa kalaban mo, na naiinis o nagagalit ka na. Hindi ako gano’n at that time.”
Life, however, had other plans. While the bar exam remained on hold, opportunities kept pouring in—projects that Nico now considers blessings in disguise. Still, one moment reignited his determination: the 2023 Bar Exam results, where a 62-year-old woman passed on her very first try.
“She did it. If she could do it, bakit hindi ako?” Nico recalled.
That spark was enough. Last year, Nico finally took the leap—and it paid off. He was among the passers of the 2025 Bar Exams, with the results officially released on January 7. Before entering law school, Nico earned his degree in AB European Studies.
From doubt to determination, Nico’s story proves that sometimes, the right time is worth the wait.
