Motornapper killed in shootout with police in Nueva Ecija

NUEVA ECIJA POLICE PROVINCIAL OFFICE — A suspected motorcycle robber was killed in a shootout during a police pursuit in Cabanatuan City early Saturday morning (December 14).
According to a report submitted to Col. Ferdinand Germino, Nueva Ecija police director, the shootout occurred around 5:40 a.m. as police operatives chased the fleeing suspect in Purok 1, Barangay Sumacab Este, Cabanatuan City.
The suspect, riding a stolen red motorcycle, lost control and crashed onto the pavement. Instead of surrendering, he drew a short firearm and fired at the approaching police personnel, prompting them to retaliate. The suspect was mortally wounded and died on the spot.
The owner of the stolen motorcycle positively identified both her vehicle and the suspect, who had forcibly taken the motorcycle at gunpoint around 4:20 a.m. along Felipe Vergara Highway in Barangay H. Concepcion, Cabanatuan City.
Police recovered the stolen red motorcycle and the suspect’s firearm at the encounter site.
Col. Germino commended the swift response of the Cabanatuan City Police Station in addressing the incident. He reiterated his call for public cooperation in reporting criminal activities to ensure the safety and security of all neighborhoods in Nueva Ecija.
