MANILA, Philippines – A high-value target was apprehended, and PHP18 million worth of high-grade marijuana was confiscated during a drug operation conducted by the Philippine National Police-Drug Enforcement Group (PDEG) in Balagtas, Bulacan, on Saturday afternoon.
The suspect, a resident of Marilao, Bulacan, was arrested around 3:15 p.m. in Barangay Santol, Northville 6, Balagtas, according to PDEG chief Brig. Gen. Eleazar Matta. Authorities seized approximately 12 kilograms of dried marijuana leaves contained in twenty-four heat-sealed transparent plastic bags, along with other pieces of non-drug evidence.
“Our team’s successful operation has significantly disrupted drug distribution in the region, resulting in an arrest and substantial drug seizures,” Matta said.
“This success not only affects the drug trade but also contributes to a safer and healthier community. We will continue to monitor and address this kind of illegal trade,” he added.
The operation was a coordinated effort involving the PDEG, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), and the local police. The suspect is currently held at the Balagtas Municipal Police Station. The confiscated drugs will be forwarded to the Bulacan Provincial Forensic Unit for laboratory analysis, while non-drug evidence remains in the custody of the PDEG for appropriate disposal.
