VP Sara Duterte finally takes oath, says she needs to help OVP personnel
Cena de Guzman-Trinidad November 25, 2024 at 08:39 PMMANILA, Philippines – Vice President Sara Duterte took her oath before the House Committee on Good Government and Public Accountability prior to delivering her statement.
Duterte was set to issue a statement before the committee but was instructed by Rep. Joel Chua, chairperson of the committee, that she would not be recognized unless she took an oath.
“For the sake of the personnel of the Office of the Vice President (OVP), because clearly, (Rep.) Joel Chua won’t recognize you without an oath,” Duterte said.
The Vice President also questioned the constitutionality of the House’s rules, stating, “I can’t help the personnel of the OVP if I have no personality in that hearing, so I have to take that oath,” adding that she expects the committee to continue to “terrorize the OVP personnel.”
In an interview, Duterte expressed her frustrations, saying, “We don’t trust anyone anymore in this country. We don’t expect justice anymore in this country.”
She further commented on the allegations of misuse of confidential funds by the OVP, saying, “If they file a case, impeachment case, we will answer that in the proper venue, kung meron man sila mahanap na mali doon.”
