MANILA, Philippines – Mylah Roque, the wife of former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque, reportedly left the country, according to the Bureau of Immigration (BI).
BI spokeswoman Dana Sandoval confirmed that Mrs. Roque departed for Singapore on September 3.
“She is currently not in the country, as her lookout bulletin was issued on September 16,” Sandoval stated during a Bagong Pilipinas Ngayon briefing.
The House Quad committee recently accused Mrs. Roque of contempt and ordered her detention for failing to attend its hearings. She was asked to clarify her involvement in signing a lease agreement with Chinese nationals connected to the POGO complex in Bamban, Tarlac.
The committee is investigating the connections between Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs) and issues related to the illegal drug trade and extrajudicial killings from the previous administration.
Sandoval mentioned that there is no record of Harry Roque having left the country recently, as he has an immigration lookout bulletin issued on August 6.
Meanwhile, the Philippine National Police (PNP) reported that its tracking teams are doing everything possible to locate Roque. The PNP’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) acknowledged recently that it has faced challenges in finding the former spokesman, who has been issued contempt and detention orders by the House Quad Committee investigating alleged illegal activities involving Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO).
PNP spokesperson Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo acknowledged the challenges they are facing but affirmed their commitment to searching for Atty. Roque and other wanted individuals.
“We are encountering some challenges but we are not giving excuses, what we can give right now is our commitment. We will not stop looking for Atty. Roque but also for other wanted personalities,” Gen. Fajardo said in a press briefing at Camp Crame, Quezon City.
