KAIA, a five-member girl group known for their strong vocals, dynamic performances, and passion for storytelling through music, is expanding its presence in the growing P-Pop scene.
Their name is a fusion of the Cebuano word “kinaiya” (meaning “self”) and the Filipino word “kaya” (meaning “capability”), symbolizing their resilience and determination to succeed.
The group consists of Angela Hermoso (Leader, Vocalist), Charice Hermoso (Main Rapper), Alexa Avrilla (Lead Rapper), Sophia Mercado (Main Vocalist, Lead Dancer), and Charlotte Secretario (Main Dancer, Rapper). Twin sisters Angela and Charice bring a unique dynamic to the lineup.
Formed by ShowBT Philippines, the company that initially managed SB19, KAIA has been making its mark in the P-Pop industry since their official debut in 2022.
KAIA first introduced themselves with their pre-debut single “KAYA” in December 2021, back when they were a six-member group. However, Joanna Lara left before their official debut, and the group continued as five.
In April 2022, they launched their official debut single “BLAH BLAH,” followed by releases like “You Did It,” “Turn Up,” “5678,” “Dalawa,” and “Kaya.” Among their tracks, “Dalawa” has gained notable recognition, surpassing 1.5 million Spotify streams and becoming a fan favorite.
Beyond music, KAIA has given fans an inside look at their journey through their documentary series “Road to Debut.” This series showcases the challenges and hard work they endured before officially stepping into the spotlight.
Their performances highlight a blend of Filipino storytelling and modern pop influences, allowing them to create relatable songs that resonate with their listeners.
With their growing fanbase called ZAIA (which means “light”), and a commitment to honing their craft, the group continues to strongly establish their identity in the industry.
