“Dictators and human rights violators should never be commemorated or celebrated ” – Rep. France Castro

Arkipelago News September 11, 2022 at 02:47 PM

“Declaring a special holiday, even just for the home province of Marcos Sr. is a distortion of history. This goes against the spirit of RA 10368 or the Martial Law victims compensation law. This is a huge dishonor and disrespect to the victims of the regime of Ferdinand Marcos Sr,” ayon sa inilabas na pahayag ni Castro.

Dagdag pa ni Castro, hindi raw dapat kalimutan ang mga kasalanan ng diktadurya, “portraying him as good and worthy of being commemorated and erasing his actions and the atrocities of his regime. The Filipino people should never forget the sins of the dictatorship of Marcos Sr. so that history does not repeat itself.”

“What we should commemorate is the anniversary of the declaration of Martial Law, recall the evils of human rights violations, abuses, and plunder that wreaked havoc in our country. Dictators and human rights violators should never be commemorated or celebrated,” dagdag pa niya.

“Teachers will not allow a distortion of history and rewrite it as if the Marcos era was all good, no injustice and corruption when in fact history already judged him as a plunderer, murderer, fascist and criminal…

“It has been the project of the Marcos family to clear their name of any wrongdoing from history books and the minds of the Filipino people by spreading fake news about their accomplishments and the ‘good’ that they’ve done for the country. They continue to harass and abuse anyone who does not sing praise about them. Calling critics terrorists, subversives, and discrediting the legitimate demands of the Filipino people.”

“We must continue to fight for the history of the Filipino people. To attain justice for the victims and genuine peace, we must never forget the sins of the Marcos family, and never again must we let another dictatorial rule abuse the Filipino people and the country,” pagtatapos ni Castro.
