MANILA, Philippines — Diesel prices in Metro Manila have climbed past ₱140 per liter following significant fuel price adjustments this week, the Department of Energy (DOE) said.
DOE Secretary Sharon Garin reported that diesel prices increased by ₱15 to ₱18 per liter, bringing the cost of regular diesel to above ₱130 per liter and premium diesel to as high as ₱144.20 per liter.
Gasoline and kerosene prices also rose. The DOE said gasoline prices went up by ₱8 to ₱12 per liter, while kerosene saw increases ranging from ₱12 to ₱22 per liter.
The latest adjustments reflect continued volatility in global oil markets, with the Philippines remaining heavily dependent on imported fuel.
Energy officials said the spike is expected to have a ripple effect on transport fares and commodity prices, as higher fuel costs drive up operating and logistics expenses.
The DOE has yet to announce additional interventions but earlier said it is coordinating with other agencies to mitigate the impact on affected sectors.
Fuel price movements are adjusted weekly by oil companies based on international market trends.
