MANILA — Another round of significant fuel price increases is expected next week, with diesel projected to post a double-digit hike, according to early industry estimates based on Mean of Platts Singapore (MOPS) trading.
Initial four-day trading data indicate that diesel prices could rise by approximately ₱14.00 to ₱14.50 per liter, while gasoline prices may increase by around ₱7.00 to ₱7.50 per liter.
These projections follow a series of consecutive “big-time” fuel price hikes in recent weeks, driven largely by fluctuation in the global oil market.
Local oil companies are expected to announce final price adjustments ahead of their weekly implementation, typically scheduled every Tuesday.
The anticipated increases are likely to further strain transport costs and consumer prices, especially in sectors heavily dependent on diesel such as public transportation and logistics.
