Filipino digital creator Donnalyn Bartolome was named Best Content Creator at the 2025 Septimius Awards held in Amsterdam earlier this month.
The Septimius Awards is an international ceremony that honours feature films, documentaries, shorts, animations, TV series, and screenplays from around the world. It is based in Europe and has welcomed Emmy, BAFTA, and Oscar winners among its attendees.
In a clip of her acceptance speech shared on Instagram, Donnalyn dedicated the award to the Philippines and raised concern about the country’s flood control projects.
“I’m deeply honored to be awarded tonight. I create content to inspire. I love making people happy and to fund a lot of causes and prevention initiatives. I’m from the Philippines , and one of the most heartbreaking issues we face back home is the floods,” she said.
She emphasized how floods displace communities and claim lives every year, stressing that “prevention is better than cure.” While calling for stronger accountability in flood management, she also pointed to community-led efforts such as planting trees and bamboo.
Donnalyn shared her advocacy with the agency Influence Us, which has so far planted over a thousand trees.
“I’m standing here not just as an awardee but as someone who wants to use this moment to influence. If you take anything from this, let it be this: please plant at least one tree in your lifetime. It’s a simple act of love for the one home we all share, our planet. Tonight, a self-made agency even pledged another hundred trees,” she said, drawing applause.
She ended her speech with: “Influence means nothing if you’re not using it to make the world a better place.”
Her words gained praise from netizens, who commended her for using her platform to highlight important issues and inspire action.
