MANILA, Philippines – Former members of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) have come forward, alleging that they were exploited by the church’s leadership for financial gain.

Teresita Valdehueza, a former member of KOJC, testified before the Senate Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations, and Gender Equality, revealing that she was required to generate P10 million to P15 million every December for the church. Valdehueza explained that she had to organize caroling groups across the country, with participation mandatory for all members. Members from the Visayas and Mindanao were even sent to Luzon to fulfill these duties.

Valdehueza further disclosed that members were forced to solicit donations in order to meet the quotas set by the church. According to her, KOJC leadership showed no concern for the safety of members, even if they were in danger or involved in accidents during their activities.

In addition to caroling, other members were compelled to sell food, with daily quotas ranging from P500 to P1,000, required from Mondays to Saturdays.

Valdehueza also alleged that she was sexually abused by Pastor Apollo Quiboloy and was punished with “dry fasting”—deprivation of both food and water—for alleged offenses, including accusations of theft and engaging in sexual favors with some ministers.

During the Senate hearing, other former members shared similar stories of abuse. Ukrainian national Yulya Voronina testified that she left the church due to the intolerable abuses she experienced under Quiboloy’s leadership.

Several other former members recounted their negative experiences within the church, emphasizing how they felt used and manipulated by Quiboloy.

Quiboloy, along with his co-accused, declined to comment on the allegations and invoked their right to remain silent.
