EXO’s D.O. will leave SM Entertainment and establish a new agency
Kate Papina October 22, 2023 at 02:56 PMK-pop boy group EXO member D.O. will leave SM Entertainment in November 2023, the agency officially confirmed on October 18.
D.O. is set to sign with the newly formed acting agency called “Company SooSoo,” run by his long-time manager, to pursue his professional and personal career. The agency assured that he will continue to participate in EXO’s activities while remaining a member of the band under SM Entertainment.
“D.O.’s exclusive contract with us will expire in early November. Following thorough discussions with D.O., it has been decided that he will continue his EXO activities with SM but will proceed with his acting and individual endeavors through the newly established agency founded by his and SM’s former manager,” the company stated, according to a translation from Soompi.
D.O, whose real name is Do Kyung-soo, is a South Korean singer, actor, and member of the popular K-pop group EXO. He debuted with EXO in 2012 as the band’s main vocalist, quickly gaining a massive fan base both in South Korea and internationally.
He is known for his powerful and soulful vocals as well as his acting skills.
He has appeared in various films and television dramas, earning critical acclaim for his performances. Some of his notable acting projects include “It’s Okay, That’s Love,” “Cart,” “My Annoying Brother,” “This is Love,” “Along with the Gods: The Two Worlds,” and “Swing Kids.” His latest film role is in the movie The Moon, where he portrays Hwang Sun-woo.
For his musical and acting abilities, he has received several nominations and awards, including the Baeksang Arts Awards and the Grand Bell Awards.
In 2021, the singer-actor released his first-ever short album “Empathy,” which he recorded himself.
