Ganap na hustisya, danyos giit ng mga naulilang pamilya ng Ampatuan Massacre

Galit at masama pa rin ang loob ng mga naiwang pamilya ng 32 mamamahayag na kasama sa 58 na minasaker bandang 10 ng umaga sa Sitio Masalay, Barangay Salman, Ampatuan town, Maguindanao, noong November 23, 2009.

Hinanakit ng mga pamilya, labing-apat na taon na ang nagdaan pero patuloy pa rin nilang ipinaglalaban ang ganap na katarungan para sa kanilang mga mahal sa buhay.

Mahigit isang dekada matapos ang Ampatuan Massacre, napatunayang guilty ng Quezon City Regional Trial Court noong December 2019, ang magkakapatid na Datu Andal Jr., Zaldy at Anwar Ampatuan sa 57 counts of murder.

Kasama sila sa 28 na sinentensyahan ng hanggang 40 taong pagkakabilanggo, 15 naman ang pinarusahan ng 6-10 years sa kulungan bilang accessories, at 55 ang pinawalang sala.

Sa ibinabang desisyon, hindi isinama ang kaso ng kasamang pinatay na photojournalist na si Reynaldo “Bebot” Momoy dahil hindi pa nakikita ang kanyang labi hanggang sa ngayon.

Merong mahigit 360 testigo sa insidente, 240 suspects ang isinasangkot sa massacre, kung saan may 80 ang hindi pa nahuhuli.

Sa sama-sama nilang pahayag na pinirmahan ng presidente ng kanilang samahang Justice NOW na si Emily Lopez, sobra silang nalulungkot dahil “marami sa mga sangkot ay napalaya, tumakbong muli sa posisyon at nanalo sa election.”

Si Lopez ay pinsan ng isa pang mamamahayag na kasama sa mga pinatay na si Arturo Betia.

Hinanakit pa nila, maski ang bayad na danyos na sinabi ng korte ay hindi pa rin natatanggap ng mga pamilya.

“Marami sa amin ay nawalan ng family provider at hanggang ngayon ay challenge pa rin ang pagsurvive sa araw-araw na pangangailangan,” paliwanag ng grupo.

Daing pa nila, “May mga anak na napilitang huminto sa pag-aaral, mga asawa na doble ang kayod para buhayin ang pamilya. Sa kabila ng mga unang pangako ng mga pulitiko at mga opisyal ng gobyerno, ramdam naming naaalala lamang kami kapag malapit na ang November 23,” paliwanag ng mga naulilang pamilya.

Sa hiwalay na interview, sinegundahan ng nabalong si Grace Morales ang panawagan ng grupo na bayaran na sila ng danyos.

Si Morales ay asawa ni Rossel, reporter ng News Focus at kapatid na si Marites Cablitas na reporter naman sa Radio DxBX.

“Malaking tulong po sa mga naiwang kaanak ang kompensasyon, lalong-lalo na sa mga anak na nag-aaral pa at nagpapagamot sa sakit,” apela ni Morales.

Inihayag din ng mga pamilya na patuloy nilang hinaharap ang “hamon ng mahabang proseso sa pagdinig ng aming kaso sa Court of Appeals, sa kabila ng unang desisyon ng korte alam naming mahabang taon na naman ang aming hihintayin para dito.”

Kwento pa ng orphaned families, “May ilan nang mga kaanak ang namatay na hindi man lamang natanggap ang hustisya para sa kanilang mga kaanak. Hanggang kailan kaming maghihintay para dito?”

Idinadaing din ng grupo na hindi pa rin kinikilala ng korte bilang biktima si Momay, “kayat mas mahirap para sa kanyang pamilya ang proseso ng pagkakamit ng hustiya.”

Panawagan ni Morales sa gobyerno, “sana’y tuluyan nang matapos ang kaso ng Ampatuan Massacre.

Dagdag pa ni Morales, “sana’y matigil na ang pang-aabuso at pagkitil ng buhay sa hanay ng media.”

Labis-labis ang pasasalamat ng grupo sa media na patuloy na tumutulong sa kanila, partikular ang National Union of Journalists of the Philippines at Freedom for Media Freedom for All Coalition.

“Sa loob ng labing apat na taong pagsigaw ng hustiya, alam naming mahaba na ang ating napagsamahan at marami-rami na rin tayong nakamit na mga panalo ngunit hindi pa po tapos ang labang ito. Randam at batid din namin na marami sa mga nasa media ang patuloy pa ring humarap sa ibat-ibang uri ng pag-atake sa kalayaan sa pamamahayag,” pahayag ng grupo.

Habang sinusulat ang balitang ito kaninang madaling araw, ikinuwento ni Lopez sa chat sa reporter na ito na naghahanda na sila para dumalaw sa massacre site para magdaos ng memorial service at programa.

Ngayong hapon sa UP Diliman, gugunitain din ng iba-ibang media groups sa pangunguna ng NUJP, ang deadliest single-incident massacre ng mga mamamahayag sa kasaysayan ng media sa buong mundo.
