Actress Jodi Sta. Maria reacted to news that digital tax revenues could rise sixfold next year.

The digital tax, which adds a 12% VAT on services like Netflix and Disney+, was only implemented last June.

“Halos lahat ng aspeto ng buhay natin nagbabayad tayo ng buwis. Sa serbisyo, trabaho, pagkain at kung anu-ano pa. (Dagdag nyo na lang if may kulang pa),” Jodi wrote.

She also pointed out the issue of corruption, adding: “Yet billions are ending up in the wrong pockets. It makes me wonder where does that really leave us? Tayong mamamayan. 🤷🏼‍♀️”

Her post gained support from netizens who shared the same concerns.

The actress also joined the anti-corruption protest at EDSA last Sunday, wearing a black shirt with the statement: “Dapat may makulong.”
