Malalakas na armas, nagpapakitang malaki ang pondo ng operasyon laban kay Governor Degamo

Sa mga isinagawang operasyon matapos ang brutal na pagpatay kay Governor Roel Degamo ng Negros Oriental, limang suspek ang inaresto at isa ang napatay ng pinagsamang puwersa ng Philippine National Police at Philippine Army. Nakuha mula sa kanila ang matataas na kalibre ng baril, malalakas na armas at iba pang bagay na karaniwang ginagamit sa mga military at police operation.

Kasama sa mga diumano’y armas na ginamit ng mga suspek, na pawang mga dating sundalo, ang siyam na armalite, anim na rocket-propelled grenade at mga bala. Nakuha rin diumano mula sa kanila ang mga bulletproof vest, combat shoes, at mga uniporme ng sundalo. Kaya kumbinsido raw ang DILG at PNP na hindi ordinaryong kriminal at makapangyarihan ang mastermind na nasa likod ng karahasan. Ipinapakita rin daw nito na pinondohan ng malaking halaga ang operasyon na kumitil sa buhay ng gobernador.

Sa kasalukuyan, limang suspek na ang nasa kustodiya ng pulisya:

  1. Joric Labrador – dating Philippine Army
  2. Joven Aber – dating Scout Ranger
  3. Benjie Rodriguez – dating Philippine Army
  4. Osmundo Rivero – dating Philippine Army
  5. Rickyvelle Luces – dating Philippine Marines

Sinampahan na rin ng kasong multiple murder, frustrated murder, illegal possession of firearms, ammunitions, and explosives sina Labrador, Aber at Rodriguez sa Provincial Prosecutor’s Office sa Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental noong March 6. Kinasuhan na rin ang ikaapat na suspek na hindi pa pinapangalanan. Nasa pitong suspek pa raw ang kasalukuyang tinutugis ng PNP at AFP.

Mariin namang itinanggi ni Negros Oriental 3rd District Rep. Arnie Teves na may kinalaman siya at ang kanyang kapatid na si Henry sa pagpatay. Karibal sila sa pulitika ng yumaong gobernador.

Samantala, pinag-aaralan na rin umano ng Department of Justice ang posibilidad na mailagay sa Witness Protection Program (WPP) ang dalawa sa mga nahuling suspek dahil sa kanilang kooperasyon sa imbestigasyon.

Patuloy naman ang isinasagawang pagsisiyasat ng pulisya para matukoy kung sino ang mga utak sa pagpaslang kay Governor Degamo at sa walong sibilyan na nadamay. Nangako naman si DILG Secretary Benhur Abalos na hindi sila titigil hanggang mapanakot ang lahat ng may kinalaman sa krimen.
