More than 2,100 newly promoted public school teachers and school heads in Eastern Visayas formally took their oath before President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., marking a major step in the government’s push to strengthen career growth in the education sector.
The mass oath-taking ceremony gathered 2,121 educators, including classroom teachers and school heads, who were elevated in rank under the Department of Education’s Expanded Career Progression (ECP) System. The initiative is designed to provide clearer and faster promotion pathways based on merit, performance, and competencies.
In his remarks, Marcos underscored the administration’s commitment to ensuring that educators are given fair opportunities to advance in their careers. He reiterated that reforms are underway to address long-standing concerns over delayed promotions, emphasizing that teachers should not remain in entry-level positions throughout their service.
Education officials said the ECP system is a key reform aimed at boosting teacher morale while also improving the overall quality of education. By allowing rank progression without waiting for vacant positions, the program seeks to recognize the contributions of educators more efficiently.
The ceremony also served as recognition of the vital role teachers and school leaders play in nation-building, particularly in regions like Eastern Visayas, where education continues to be a crucial driver of development.
