PBB Celebrity Edition Big Winner Mika Salamanca faced renewed criticism online over her friendship with Kitty Duterte, daughter of former President Rodrigo Duterte.

Amid the backlash, Mika tweeted last Sunday during the nationwide protests:

“Galit ako sa corruption, wag nyo na dagdagan dahil sa kabobohan nyo.”

Today, she addressed the issue directly, apologizing to fans and admitting she had made mistakes in choosing friends.

“I understand where the disappointment and frustration are coming from and I am truly sorry. If I can only say one thing about this, I assure you that i stand and will always stand with the people. yes I admit that I had questionable choices of friends when I was at my lowest, but one thing has always been clear to me, I’ve always made sure to stand my ground even during those times. I spoke about what I believed in no matter who I was around,” she tweeted.

Mika has also since unfollowed Kitty.

Her fans, meanwhile, pointed out that Mika has been vocal about her political stance since the 2022 elections, highlighting her consistency in speaking up on social issues.
