With the rise of P-pop groups like SB19 and BINI, Filipino talent continues to shine on the music stage. Among the emerging names in the industry is Alamat, a multilingual and multiethnic boy group that sets itself apart by celebrating the country’s diverse culture.
Formed in 2020 by Viva Artists Agency and Jason Paul Laxamana’s Ninuno Media, Alamat consists of six members from different regions: Taneo from Kalinga, Mo from Zambales, Jao from Pampanga, Alas from Davao, Tomas from Albay, and R-Ji from Eastern Samar.
Their diverse backgrounds allow them to incorporate seven Philippine languages into their music—Tagalog, Ilocano, Kapampangan, Bicolano, Waray-Waray, Hiligaynon, and Bisaya.
True to their name, Alamat integrates Philippine culture into their songs and visuals, often referencing myths and folklore such as Bathala, Magindara, and aswang.

Their unique concept quickly gained attention, leading to the success of their debut single, “kbye,” which ranked second on Billboard’s Next Big Sound chart in 2021.
The group further solidified their presence in the industry with their 2022 EP “Pasulong,” featuring tracks like “Maharani,” “Aswang,” and “Gayuma.”
Their work earned multiple nominations at the 2023 Awit Awards, including Album of the Year and Best Performance by a Group for “Maharani.”
With a growing fanbase known as “Magiliw,” Alamat continues to gain recognition for its distinct sound and cultural advocacy, proving that P-pop is more than just music—it is also a celebration of Filipino identity.
