VP Duterte’s ratings drop while PBBM’s ratings remain unchanged
Cena de Guzman-Trinidad November 2, 2024 at 06:00 PMMANILA, Philippines – Vice President Sara Duterte’s performance ratings saw a significant drop in the third quarter of 2024, while President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s ratings remained steady, according to the latest survey results.
The OCTA Research survey, conducted from September 4-7, 2024, showed that Duterte’s trust ratings fell by six percentage points—from 65 percent in the second quarter to 59 percent. Her performance ratings similarly declined by eight percentage points, slipping from 60 percent to 52 percent over the same period.
In the Tugon ng Masa survey on trust ratings, Duterte experienced a 13-point decrease in the National Capital Region (NCR), where her ratings fell from 60 percent to 47 percent. In Balance Luzon, her ratings dropped by nine points, from 52 percent to 43 percent. Trust ratings in Class ABC declined by 12 points, from 64 percent to 52 percent, and by seven points in Class D, from 65 percent to 58 percent.
Her performance ratings also dropped across socioeconomic groups, with a six-point decline in Class ABC (from 56 percent to 50 percent) and a nine-point drop in Class D (from 60 percent to 51 percent). However, her trust ratings in Class C saw a slight increase, rising from 68 percent to 73 percent, and she retained strong support in Mindanao with a trust rating of 95 percent.
Meanwhile, Marcos’s ratings showed minor changes. His trust rating dipped slightly by two percentage points, from 71 percent to 69 percent, while his performance rating also dropped by two points, from 68 percent to 66 percent. OCTA Research noted that these changes are considered statistically stable.
The survey was conducted during the period of the Office of the Vice President’s budget hearing, where Duterte faced scrutiny over her confidential and intelligence funds.
