VP Leni gets support from various sectors in Bulacan
Arkipelago News October 8, 2021 at 03:12 PMVP Leni Robredo is the presidential candidate of Bulacan Alliance for Robredo (BAR), the province’s largest multi-sectoral alliance for the 2022 National Elections. To kick-off their show of support for the Vice President, BAR volunteers held a motorcade on Sunday, October 3, that stretched the length of Meycauayan City, all the way to Barasoain Church in the provincial capital of Malolos.
The event happened after the group released a manifesto of support for Robredo the previous month.
Comprised of 22 various networks of volunteers, BAR bands together various sectors from labor, women, youth, transport groups, urban poor, homeowners as well as civil society organizers & militant groups.
At 8:00AM, the motorcade pushed from Meycauayan bridge and spanned a few kilometers throughout McArthur Highway. At the head of the parade were transport organizations & motorcycle riders which previously, at the grassroot level, organized volunteers for Robredo. The parade met with more of its supporters along the way; women, youth & merchant owners carrying signboard & tarpaulins echoing BAR’s call for VP Leni to officially run as president in next year’s election.
By noon, the group has assembled in front of the historic Barasoain Church, where heads of BAR’s various member organization took turns on calling on Robredo to run for president. The group also denounced the dismal performance of the current administration in managing the pandemic situation & took a swipe at the Pharmally controversy that is dragging the name of no less than the president himself.
BAR calls on the public to join the movement for an honest and competent government. They also announced that similar activities are coming from their member organizations as the election season draws near.
