175 firearms seized 218 violators nabbed on Comelec gun ban in Central Luzon
Mon Lazaro October 23, 2023 at 06:03 PMCAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — A total of 175 firearms were confiscated and 218 violators arrested by the Central Luzon Police on the Comelec gun ban for the 2023 Barangay and Sanguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE).
Reports reaching Brig. Gen. Jose Hidalgo Jr., regional police director for Central Luzon, said that for the period August 28 to October 21 this year, 141 small firearms were seized in police operations including three light weapons and 31 replica guns for a total of 175 firearms.
The policewere also able to confiscate 47 bladed weapons and seven explosives in the region.
On the other hand, the report said the arrested 218 gun ban violators include 209 civilians, one member of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, a policeman and seven others classified as others.
