CITY OF MALOLOS — Two media personalities were intimidated and threathened by armed men while conducting news coverage on a demolition operation in Sitio Balubad, Barangay Anunas, Angeles City in Pampanga, on Tuesday, March 12.
Fred Erick Silverio, Central Luzon Media Association (CLMA) – Bulacan chairperson, identified the two media personalities as K5 Radio reporter Rowena “Weng” Quejada and Joann Manabat of Rappler.
Silverio said Quejada was covering the demolition operation in Sitio Balubad, Barangay Anunas, Angeles City, when she was accosted by armed men, one of whom allegedly poking a gun at her, and questioned her and at the same time took her belongings.
On the other hand, Manabat, was also threatened by plainclothes men wearing red, blue and white shirts, Silverio said.
He added that the two are CLMA members.
As these developed, Silverio said Angeles City Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. condemned the demolition crew of Clarkhills Properties Corporation who were reportedly responsible in the violent demolition operations in Sitio Balubad, Barangay Anunas.
