MANILA — Around 22.5 million liters of diesel have arrived in the Philippines, the Department of Energy (DOE) confirmed, in a move aimed at boosting the country’s fuel supply amid ongoing global oil market volatility.
According to DOE the shipment—equivalent to approximately 142,000 barrels or about 22.58 million liters—forms part of the government’s Emergency Energy Security Program, which seeks to reinforce the country’s fuel reserves and cushion the impact of rising global oil prices.
The diesel importation follows the directive of Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. under Executive Order No. 110, which placed the country under a state of national energy emergency and authorized measures to secure additional fuel supply.
Moreover, the arrival of the shipment is part of broader government efforts to prevent supply disruptions that could affect transportation, industry, and daily economic activity.
The DOE said it will continue to monitor fuel inventory levels and coordinate with relevant agencies and industry players to ensure a stable and sufficient petroleum supply nationwide, as the country navigates the effects of the ongoing global energy crisis.
