MANILA — A total of 343 repatriates, including 317 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and 26 dependents, arrived safely in the country via a fourth chartered flight that landed at Villamor Air Base, as the Philippine government continues its repatriation efforts amid rising tensions in parts of the Middle East.
The returnees came from Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia, where geopolitical developments have prompted heightened monitoring and contingency measures from Philippine authorities. According to the Department of Migrant Workers, the government remains on alert and is facilitating the safe and voluntary return of Filipinos who wish to go home.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. personally welcomed the repatriates upon arrival and led the distribution of assistance, including financial aid, medical services, and psychosocial support.
The administration also rolled out reintegration programs, including livelihood assistance, in coordination with the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration to help returning OFWs rebuild their lives.
The Department of Foreign Affairs earlier said contingency plans remain in place for Filipinos in high-risk areas, with embassies closely coordinating evacuation efforts if necessary.
The latest batch marks the fourth group of repatriates brought home by the government, underscoring its continued commitment to ensure the safety and welfare of Filipinos abroad amid ongoing global uncertainties.
