Kakulangan sa classroom, pangunahing problema ng edukasyon sa Pilipinas ayon sa Pulse Asia

Sa pinakahuling datos na nakuha ng Pulse Asia survey, lumalabas na ang kakulangan sa silid aralan ang pangunahing problema ng edukasyon sa ating bansa.

Sa survey na kinomisyon ni Senador Sherwin Gatchalian, 52% mula sa 1,200 respondents ang nagsasabing ang pinakamahalagang isyung dapat pagtuunan ng pansin ng Department of Education ay ang pagdaragdag ng mga silid-aralan.

Pumapangalawa naman sa 49% ang kakulangan sa mga kagamitan sa pagkatuto tulad ng libro at mga computer.

Pumapangatlo sa mga problema ang kakulangan sa mga guro na nasa 45%.

Sa panayam ng Arkipelago News, ganito rin ang nakikitang problema ni John David Martin, grade 7 MAPEH teacher sa San Pedro National High School sa Hagonoy, Bulacan.

Aniya, matagal ng problema sa sistema ng edukasyon ang mga nabanggit sa survey. Sa katunayan daw, sa kanilang eskuwelahan, nasa 42 hanggang 54 na estudyante ang nagsisiksikan sa ilang classroom dahil sa kakulangan sa mga silid-aralan at mga teacher na magtuturo sa mga mag aaral.

Kaya naman para maisama sa tala ng mga enrollee para sa school year na ito, kinakailangan umanonong pagkasyahin ang mga estudyante, bilang ng guro at bilang ng mga classroom para mairaos ang taong panuruan.

Sa pag-aaral na isinagawa noong 2010 ng United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Institute for Statistics, sa mga bansa sa South East Asia, sa Pilipinas ang may pinakamaraming estudyante sa loob ng isang elementary classroom sa average class size na 43.9 dahil sa kakulangan ng mga silid aralan sa mga eskuwelahan. Pangalawa ang India sa 40, Malaysia ang ikatlo sa 31.7.

Sa public high school, nangunguna pa rin ang Pilipinas na may average class size na 56.1, Thailand sa 41.5 at India sa 39.

Kung susuriin ang mga datos na inilabas ng Pulse Asia ngayong taon, tila walang naging pagbabago sa sistema ng edukasyon sa Pilipinas sa mahigit isang dekada at tatlong administrasyong nagdaan.

Sa datos pa ng Pule Asia survey, mas dama sa Balance Luzon (56%) at Mindanao (57%) ang kakulangan ng mga guro na nangangailangan ng agarang solusyon mula sa DepEd. Habang ang kakulangan naman sa mga kagamitang pagkatuto ay mas dama sa Metro Manila (45%) at Visayas (59%).

Dagdag pa ni Senador Gatchalian, na siya ring tumatayong chairperson ng committee ng Basic Education sa senado, nangangailangan ng humigit kumulang ?420 bilyon para mapunuan ang 167,901 na kakulangang silid aralan sa buong Pilipinas.
