Agri-trucks toll rebate program takes effect on June 1

Mon Lazaro May 24, 2024 at 09:43 PM

CITY OF MALOLOS – Haulers of agricultural products welcome the announcement that an agri-trucks toll rebate program will take effect on June 1.

The province of Bulacan hosts two major rice trading centers in the towns of Bocaue and Balagtas, has vegetable producers in the province’s eastern portions, and has a thriving fishpond industry that delivers its produce to Metro Manila and other provinces in Luzon by land transport, mainly using the expressway.

The NLEX Corporation announced on Thursday afternoon that the program allows Department of Agriculture (DA) – accredited truckers transporting agricultural goods/products to receive toll rebates equivalent to the recent enumerated toll increases.

Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) executive director, Atty. Alvin  Carullo explained “This program aims to protect the welfare of the general public by minimizing the impact of toll rate increase on the overall inflationary situation to ensure the stability of food prices. The TRB, together with the different government agencies, acknowledges the toll expressway concessionaires and operators for their full support and cooperation as this will not be possible if they did not agree to implement this exemption.”

The program was launched by the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB), Department of Finance (DOF), Department of Transportation (DOTr), and the Department of Agriculture (DA), in collaboration with the toll expressway concessionaires and operators of CAVITEX, NLEX, SCTEX, MCX and SLEX.
