MANILA – Police issued “wanted” posters for Charlie “Atong” Ang on January 16, in a bid to hasten the arrest of the controversial businessman, who is the lead accused in cases of Kidnapping with Homicide and Kidnapping and Serious Illegal Detention involving missing “sabungeros,” or cockfighting aficionados.

The posters, released by the Philippine National Police–Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG), identified Ang—also known as “Boss AA” and whose real name is Charlie Tiu Hay Ang—as the Department of the Interior and Local Government’s (DILG) Most Wanted Person.

The posters list PNP-CIDG hotlines 0960-6923025 and 0456-115926, which are open 24/7 to receive information leading to Ang’s immediate capture. Copies, including Ang’s photo and possible locations, will be displayed in CIDG offices and other conspicuous places nationwide.

The DILG and PNP said the move aims to expedite the capture of the fugitive and deliver justice to victims and their families.

This development follows DILG Secretary Juanito Victor “Jonvic” Remulla’s announcement of a ₱10-million reward for information leading to Ang’s arrest.

“The identity of the informant will be treated with the utmost confidentiality,” the poster read.

Claiming the reward requires presenting the subscriber identity module (SIM) card used to call and provide relevant information to the PNP, the poster also noted.

Ang remains the lone accused still at large after 17 co-accused were earlier arrested by the PNP-CIDG.

Remulla described Ang as “armed and dangerous,” citing intelligence reports that he travels with at least 20 bodyguards despite the cancellation of his firearm licenses.

“Maituturing natin na number one most wanted sa buong Pilipinas ngayon. He is accused for killing about, over and about, 100 missing sabungeros,” Remulla said in an interview over DZMM.

“Sanay ‘yan sa marahas na pagharap sa mga awtoridad para masolusyunan ang kanyang mga problema. So we considered him armed and dangerous,” he added.

Remulla vowed that law enforcers would exhaust all legal means to arrest Ang, assuring there would be no extrajudicial killings.

“Ang buong 320,000 members ng PNP ay hahanapin siya (Ang) sa buong Pilipinas. At lahat ng paraan na kailangang gawin para kunin siya ay gagawin namin. Pero, may garantiya kami na walang EJK,” Remulla said.
