CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — The Central Luzon Regional Police Office has reaffirmed its commitment to internal cleansing following the arrest of two personnel from the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) of Pampanga for their alleged involvement in a robbery in Mabalacat City.
Brig. Gen. Ponce Rogelio Peñones Jr., acting Region III police director, issued a strong statement condemning the incident.
“We will never tolerate abuse of power in our ranks. This incident is a blatant betrayal of public trust and a disgrace to the uniform we wear. Let me be clear—any police officer who engages in criminal activity will be treated as a criminal. The full force of the law will be applied, regardless of position or assignment,” Peñones pointed out.
Meanwhile, Col. Eugene Marcelo, police director of Pampanga, released a press statement regarding the robbery with intimidation incident that occurred on July 16, 2025, in Barangay Tabun, Mabalacat City.
“The Pampanga Police Provincial Office condemns in the strongest terms the alleged involvement of police personnel in the robbery incident that occurred on July 16, 2025 in Barangay Tabun, Mabalacat City, Pampanga.
We have already taken swift action to investigate the incident, which initially involved unidentified suspects but later led to the identification of certain members of the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU). The individuals involved have been placed under arrest, and appropriate criminal and administrative charges are being prepared against them.”
Marcelo emphasized his zero-tolerance policy on misconduct within the police force.
“Pampanga PPO will not tolerate any form of abuse, corruption, or misconduct within our ranks. The law must be applied fairly and firmly—whether one is a civilian or a member of the police force.”
He also directed the Provincial Internal Affairs Service to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation to ensure transparency and accountability.
“To the public, your trust is our most valuable asset. I call on you to remain vigilant and to continue working with us. Together, we will hold accountable those who abuse power and ensure that the PNP remains an institution of integrity, service, and justice.”
