Many people in Coron, Palawan, and other parts of the country are pressing for “tough actions” by the municipal mayor and Sangguniang Bayan to be imposed on vloggers Rendon Labador, Rosemarie Tan Pamulaklakin a.k.a. Rosmar, and their group. The Sangguniang Panlalawigan ng Palawan declared them persona non grata on June 19.
A separate Sangguniang Bayan resolution for a persona non grata declaration was earlier drafted by a Coron councilor as he criticized the vloggers’ berating of the female staffer of the LGU because of her comment on her personal Facebook account regarding the purported charity event of the vloggers.
Councilor Juan Patricio Eyes, who authored the draft resolution, posted on his FB account: “… Coronians, eto na po ang resolution na ihahain sa next regular session declaring “Rosmar” and Rendon Labador persona non-grata in the municipality of Coron.
Jho Cayabyab Trinidad I suggest mag reklamo sa appropriate venues/agencies against these people. I would like to strongly recommend to my fellow legislators, VM Ashian and Mayor Marjo; that we provide Ms. Jho Cayabyab Trinidad with whatever assistance she needs should she decide to file appropriate charges against Labador and Rosmar.”
Eyes then posted a copy of the draft resolution, the salient points of which state:
“WHEREAS, on June 14, 2024, vloggers Rendon Labador, Rosmar and Marki Tan were involved in an incident in Coron, Palawan, where Mr. Labador disrespectfully confronted Miss Jho Cayabyab Trinidad, an employee of the Office of the Vice Mayor, in the presence of numerous individuals inside the Office of the Mayor…
WHEREAS, Labador and Rosmar had publicly promised to distribute grocery packages to the people of Coron, creating expectations among the residents, but ultimately only delivered a few packages, resulting in hunger, disappointment, and dismay among the people…
WHEREAS, Rosmar’s subsequent post on her Facebook account, stating “never again Coron, Palawan,” further aggravated the situation, contributing to negative publicity and tarnishing the image of the municipality;…
NOW, THEREFORE… it is hereby RESOLVED, to declare Rendon Labador, Rosemarie Tan Pamulaklakin a.k.a. Rosmar and Marki Tan as persona non-grata in the Municipality of Coron, Palawan for their disrespectful behavior, negative publicity, incitement to conflict, and violation of Republic Act No. 10951, also known as the “Property and Damage Penalty Adjustment Act”; Article 153 of the Revised Penal Code; and Republic Act No. 11313, also known as the “Safe Spaces Act (Bawal Bastos Law); and Republic Act No. 10175 also known as the “Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012”… APPROVED this 24th day of June 2024, on a regular session at Coron, Palawan…”
Councilor Eyes added, “The final resolution will come out after the June 24 regular session.”
Coron Mayor Marjo Reyes posted on his own FB account the following statement:
Most of the commenters on the Facebook posts of Mayor Reyes and Councilor Eyes called for tougher actions of the LGU against the said vloggers.
Netizen Windyl E. said, “Sana bukod sa persona non-grata ay makasuhan pa sila. Sobra disrespect ang ginawa nila.”
Jake R. underscored, “…can we be more pro-active to these so called persons that they will feel unwelcome in our place, such as… posting their faces and names on any port arrival areas. and advising establishments, to refuse accommodation and service to them…”
Ermin P. added, “Resolved furthermore to request the deactivation and banning of their social media accounts in FB, Instagram, Twitter, X, etc.”
