CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga– The Department of Agriculture’s Climate Resilient Agriculture Office (CRAO) recently conducted field monitoring and assessment of Adaptation and Mitigation Initiative in Agriculture (AMIA) villages in Central Luzon.
The DA Central Luzon office reported that the monitoring and assessment activities were conducted in AMIA villages in the provinces of Zambales, Nueva Ecija, Tarlac, Pampanga and Bulacan that evaluated the effectiveness of the interventions provided under the AMIA program.
It also aimed to identify the pressing needs, concerns, or necessary actions required for the seamless execution of the program at the grassroots level.
The activity promotes AMIA program’s goal that seeks to empower farmers and fishermen by promoting climate-resilient agriculture practices and technologies that enhance productivity and income despite the challenges posed by climate change.
Key climate-resilient agriculture practices adopted by AMIA villages in the said provinces include farm diversification, alternate wetting, and drying, utilization of climate-resilient seed varieties, crop rotation, zero tillage, integrated pest management, and a system of rice intensification.
