CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, PAMPANGA– More than 300 state employees from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and collaborating agencies participated in a combined fun run and cleanup event in celebration of Earth Day.

This effort resulted in the removal of approximately 176 kilograms of plastic waste from the Diosdado Macapagal Government Center in Pampanga.

The event, known as “KapaligiRUN: Takbo para sa Kalikasan,” featured a plogging session that integrated running with trash cleanup and collection.

DENR Regional Executive Director Ralph Pablo emphasized the importance of fostering strategic partnerships and cooperation among government agencies to promote environmental protection and sustainability.

“By working together, combining our strengths and compassion, we can heal the earth. Let’s become stewards, not just inhabitants, and restore our planet to its former glory, for ourselves and generations to come,” Pablo remarked.

He emphasized that this initiative is an important addition to the government’s ongoing endeavors to clean and restore creeks, tributaries, and river systems flowing into Manila Bay.

This year’s Earth Day theme, “Planet vs Plastics,” advocates for reducing plastic waste to foster a greener and more sustainable environment.
