MANILA, Philippines – Former President Rodrigo Duterte was seen feigning a punch at former Senator Leila De Lima during the 11th House Quad Committee hearing. Duterte also attempted to throw a microphone at former Senator Antonio Trillanes in the same session.
The incident began when Duterte appeared irked after De Lima called him out, accusing him of lying about not knowing her. You will rot in jail, Leila De Lima.”

De Lima went on to recall an incident during Duterte’s first State of the Nation Address (SONA) when he shook her hand, suggesting he was well aware of who she was. She added, “So, hindi niya ako kilala? Alam ho yan, for example ni former Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea, na kilala ako, kilalang-kilala ako ng dating mayor, ng dating pangulo, so he is lying.”
After De Lima’s statement, Duterte was heard saying, “hindi ko siya nakilala, iba na ang hairdo niya, pati yung kulay ng buhok,” in response to her remarks. He then feigned a punch toward her.
Duterte also lost his cool and tried to throw a microphone at former Senator Antonio Trillanes after the latter showed the alleged bank records of the Dutertes showing deposits of at least P2.4 billion.
When Deputy Speaker Jay-Jay Suarez inquired if Duterte would sign a bank secrecy waiver during the hearing, Duterte replied, “anong kapalit? Sampalin ko siya (Trillanes).”
The heated exchange led to the hearing being suspended for several minutes. Duterte later apologized for his actions when the session resumed.
