SANTA MARIA, Bulacan — A former policeman and two others were arrested in connection with a robbery-holdup incident in Barangay Poblacion in this town on Monday, August 26.
Lt. Col. Voltaire Rivera, Santa Maria police chief, identified the former policeman as a certain Roque, a resident of Trece Martires, Cavite. His cohorts were identified as alias Chilito from Quezon City and alias Ric from Blumentritt, Manila. Their victim was a 71-year-old businessman and resident of Barangay Poblacion, Santa Maria.
Initial investigation showed that the victim was on his way to deposit P550,000 in cash at a bank. While parked along A. Santiago Street in Barangay Poblacion, alias Chilito approached him from behind, pointed a firearm, and took the money. He then boarded a pink Yamaha Mio MXi 125 motorcycle without a plate number, driven by the former policeman, alias Roque, and fled toward Barangay Catmon.

The victim immediately sought assistance from a nearby traffic enforcer, who promptly relayed the incident to the Santa Maria Police Station. Police raised a flash alarm to mobile patrollers, which eventually led to the arrest of the suspects.
Recovered from the suspects were a Glock 22 Gen. 4 cal..40 pistol with serial number AAMV111, a magazine loaded with 12 live hollow point rounds, the pink Yamaha Mio MXi 125 motorcycle without a plate number, and the stolen P550,000 cash.

A follow-up investigation led to the arrest of alias Ric, who allegedly acted as the spotter in the robbery-holdup incident.
