Hilda Koronel’s ‘Sisa’ wins Best Screenplay at Fantasporto

The Philippine historical thriller Sisa, directed by Jun Robles Lana and starring veteran actress Hilda Koronel, won Best Screenplay at the 46th Fantasporto International Film Festival in Porto, Portugal.
The international recognition marks a significant achievement for the film, which reimagines the iconic literary character Sisa in a gripping story set during the Philippine–American War.
In an Instagram post, Lana expressed pride in the film’s global recognition and thanked the team behind the project. “It’s an honor for our team to see this story recognized on an international stage,” the filmmaker wrote.
Sisa is currently showing in cinemas across the Philippines, bringing its award-winning storytelling to local audiences nationwide.
