MANILA — Former senator and current senatorial candidate Kiko Pangilinan is optimistic that last-minute voters will help secure his return to the Senate in the upcoming May 12 elections.
Speaking to entertainment reporters during a press conference in Quezon City on May 5—organized by the Monteverde family of Regal Entertainment—Pangilinan expressed confidence in his track record and experience.
“Focus lang tayo… present our advocacies, focus lang hanggang sa dulo, tuloy-tuloy lang,” he said, emphasizing his commitment to campaign until the very end.
Pangilinan highlighted the “last-minute” decision-making of many voters, noting that more Filipinos are now taking the time to carefully evaluate candidates. “Ngayon, ang last minute nararamdaman natin. Ang tao mas sineseryoso na ang pagbusisi,” he explained.
“We are optimistic that kapag tiningnan nila ang ating track record eh syempre, tayo masasabi nila walang bahid ng kurakot at madaming batas na naipasa at tayo’y karapat-dapat,” Pangilinan stressed.
Among his top advocacies is food security. He vowed to push for the full implementation of the Sagip Saka Act, which aims to empower farmers and fisherfolk by providing government support to increase their productivity and improve food supply in the markets.
Pangilinan also proposed a “Libreng Almusal” program, which would offer free meals to underprivileged Filipino students.
“Kapag busog ang ating mga anak, mas nananatili silang nag-aaral, mas maganda ang kanilang natututunan,” Pangilinan stated, underscoring the link between nutrition and quality education.
As election day draws near, Pangilinan is counting on his solid track record in public service and his consistent advocacy for Filipino families to resonate with undecided voters and deliver a win.
