Even before their official debut, the upcoming boy group GAT, short for “Gawang Atin ‘To,” is already making waves in the P-Pop scene.
The group’s name also draws inspiration from the old Filipino honorific “Gatdula,” a title once given to esteemed Filipino gentlemen who brought pride and honor to the country—such as Gat Jose Rizal and Gat Andres Bonifacio.
Managed by Ivory Music and Viva Artists Agency (VAA), GAT consists of Ethan David, Charles Law, Michael Keith, Derick Ong, and Hans Paronda. Most of the members gained recognition through the Wattpad series adaptation “Ang Mutya Ng Section E,” quickly capturing the hearts of viewers.
GAT’s Rise to Fame
Even before their debut, GAT has already impressed P-Pop fans with their pre-debut performance video with a cover of James Reid’s “Huwag Ka Nang Humirit,” where they add a new fresh, youthful energy into the song.
Their cover of the viral hit “Marikit” by Juan Caoile and Kyleswish also gained attention, but it was their rendition of “Daleng-Dale” that truly made waves. The track, originally by MMJ, is the official soundtrack of “Ang Mutya Ng Section E.” Their version became so popular that it reached #8 on Spotify Philippines’ Daily Viral Songs chart and sparked a TikTok dance trend, with countless netizens joining in.
Growing Popularity
GAT has also made television appearances, including a guesting on Eat Bulaga’s “Sugod Campus” segment, further increasing their visibility. Despite not having officially debuted yet, they have already built a solid fanbase eager to support their journey.
As their debut approaches, excitement continues to grow. Fans eagerly anticipate how GAT will leave their mark on the P-Pop industry and bring pride to Filipino music.
