Actress Nadine Lustre filed a complaint on Thursday (May 22) over the “relentless and malicious attacks she has endured.”
Her move was backed by the ML party-list, which praised Lustre for her “courage in standing up against online gender-based violence.”
Incoming Representative Leila de Lima expressed her full support for Lustre, saying, “we at ML party list express full support for Nadine Lustre as she files a complaint for violation of the Safe Spaces Act in response to the relentless and malicious attacks she has endured.”

De Lima also said Lustre’s action was “a necessary step in a time when social media is being used to silence voices that speak for justice and reform.”
Lustre was among De Lima’s top endorsers in the recent midterm elections. ML, or Mamamayang Liberal, ranked 14th out of 52 declared winners, marking De Lima’s political comeback after spending seven years in detention under the Duterte administration.
“We believe in freedom of expression. Pero ang kalayaang ito ay hindi dapat gamitin laban sa katotohanan, dignidad, at demokrasya. Expression becomes dangerous when it is driven by disinformation and personal malice,” De Lima said.
Lustre has long been vocal about political and social issues. She also reminded the public to vote wisely ahead of the 2025 elections.
