P55M worth of shabu that arrived in Clark seized in controlled delivery in Cavite
Mon Lazaro December 20, 2023 at 07:52 PMCITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — A former Overseas Filipino Worker in Taiwan was arrested after claiming a package containing more than P55 million worth of suspected shabu during a controlled delivery operation in Cavite on Tuesday.
The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Central Luzon office identified the suspect as Michael Florendo who was apprehended after claiming the package in Barangay Hugo Perez, Trece Martirez, Cavite.
The package contained approximately eight kilos of suspected shabu worth P55,200,000 that arrived at the Port of Clark on December 17 this year that emanated from Long Beach, California, USA, and was consigned to Florendo and its discovery led to a controlled delivery operation.
The recovered contraband was forwarded to PDEA Central Luzon laboratory section for forensic examination.
On the other hand, Florendo was temporarily detained at the jail facility of PDEA in the City of San Fernando, Pampanga and is facing a non-bailable offense of Section 4 (importation of dangerous drugs) of Republic Act 9165.
