Several roads and bridges in different areas heavily impacted by the combined effects of Typhoon Egay and the Southwest Monsoon have either been closed or have limited access. The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) reported this in its series of Situational Reports. The latest report was issued at 8:00 pm on Sunday, July 30.
“Seventeen (17) road sections are closed to traffic: ten (10) in CAR, two (2) in Region I, and five (5) in Region III due to soil collapse, fallen trees, washed-out/scoured bridge approach, soil erosion, road cut, damaged PCP, damaged slope protection, landslide, scoured bridge abutment, flooding/ high water elevation and for safety reason,” the DPWH noted in its report.

“Also, nine (9) road sections have limited access: one (1) in CAR, five (5) in Region I, and three (3) in Region III due to soil collapse, road slip, damaged road slope protection, rockslide, and flooding,” it added.
However, all national roads and bridges in other affected regions are passable to all types of vehicles as of the stated date and time.
The number of roads closed due to the typhoon and monsoon reached its highest at 27 as noted by DPWH based on its July 28 (6:00 am) records.
The agency later reported that as of noontime of July 28, they had already cleared and reopened 25 typhoon Egay-affected roads.
