PASAY CITY — CIBAC Party-List Representative Bro. Eddie Villanueva has been recognized as an “Outstanding Public Servant” by the Public Attorney’s Office (PAO) during its Oath-Taking and Orientation Ceremony held on October 21, 2024, at the Bayview Park Hotel in Pasay City.

The ceremony, presided over by PAO Chief Atty. Persida Acosta, gathered approximately 330 newly hired, promoted, and status-changed employees of the PAO. The award was presented by the PAO’s Program on Awards and Incentives for Service Excellence (PRAISE) Committee, acknowledging Rep. Villanueva’s exceptional commitment to public service and his unwavering support for advancing the PAO’s mission of social justice and providing free legal assistance across the nation.

“Isang malaking karangalan po na kilalanin ng magigiting na public lawyers ang ating adbokasiya laban sa korapsyon at pakikipaglaban para sa katarungan, lalo na para sa mga mahihirap. Mas lalo po nating sisikaping maging mas malawig ang free legal assistance sa mas maraming Pilipino. Maraming salamat sa Public Attorney’s Office o PAO para sa karangalang ito. Special na pasasalamat at pagbati sa chief attorney of the nation, Atty. Persida Acosta. Sa Diyos po ang lahat ng papuri!,” said CIBAC Rep. Bro. Eddie in a heartfelt video message.

For decades, Rep. Villanueva has championed anti-corruption efforts, transparency, and good governance, further solidifying his reputation as a dedicated public servant. Among his notable legislative achievements is the enactment of Republic Act 11476, also known as the GMRC (Good Manners and Right Conduct) Law, which aims to reduce moral corruption in the Philippines. He has also introduced House Bill 10869, the Abogado Para sa Bayan bill, designed to establish a legal scholarship and return service program.

In addition, CIBAC continues to provide free legal assistance and counsel to indigent constituents, addressing their legal needs.

The award was accepted on behalf of Rep. Villanueva by Mr. Dexter Nival, Political Affairs Officer of the Office of Rep. Villanueva, further underscoring the commitment of CIBAC and its leaders to public service and community support.
