2 arrested for illegal manufacturing of “sawa” in Bulacan

SANTA MARIA, Bulacan – Police arrested two individuals on Friday afternoon for the illegal manufacturing of “sawa” firecrackers in this town.
In a report submitted by Lt. Col. Voltaire Rivera, Santa Maria police chief, to Col. Satur Ediong, Bulacan police director, the suspects, aged 67 and 38, were identified as residents of Barangay Pulong Buhangin, Santa Maria, Bulacan.
According to Rivera, local police received a call from a concerned citizen regarding the illegal production of firecrackers along Del Rosario Street, Barangay Pulong Buhangin.
Acting on the tip, police operatives apprehended the suspects in the act of manufacturing firecrackers without the necessary permits from authorities.
Confiscated from the suspects were six sacks and a box of unfinished “sawa” products with an estimated value of P35,000.
The suspects are now in police custody and face charges for violating RA 7183, also known as the Firecracker Law.
