2 suspected Chinese spies nabbed in Bulacan

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga – Two Chinese nationals suspected of espionage were recently arrested in Bulacan.
This was confirmed by Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo, Central Luzon regional police director, who said the two suspects were arrested on Wednesday (May 7) by a joint team from the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission Task Force (PAOC-TF), the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), and the Bulacan Provincial Police Office.
A report identified the suspects as a certain Zhao, a resident of West Bajac, Zambales, and a certain Teng, a resident of Primavera Homes, Barangay Sabang, City of Baliwag, Bulacan. The arrest took place in Teng’s neighborhood.
One of the suspects was subjected to an entrapment operation that led to their arrest after being caught in the act of possessing, installing, and deploying electronic equipment capable of intercepting, storing, and utilizing information obtained from various communication devices, particularly cellphones.
Authorities seized the following items during the operation:
● A grey metal box battery with positive and negative terminals with wires
● One IMEI Catcher complete assembly (motherboard)
● An antenna for the IMEI Catcher
● One Huawei Wi-Fi internet router
● A silver-colored 3000W inverter (complete assembly, color orange)
● A 1200W portable inverter
● A white Toyota Fortuner with license plate ACA 87
The report also noted that two alternative recording devices were used during the operation.
The suspects are currently under the custody of the CIDG Bulacan for standard booking procedures and proper disposition.
