2 trailer truck carjackers intercepted in Bulacan killed in encounter

CAMP ALEJO SANTOS, Bulacan — Two carjackers who comandeered a trailer truck loaded with corn were killed when they opted to shoot it out when intercepted in Bulacan on Saturday night (March 23)
Reports reaching Col. Relly Arnedo, Bulacan police director, identified one of the carjackers as Marlon Bautista, 44 years old, a resident of Cauayan City, Isabela and the other remained to be identified.
Initial investigation showed that the blue trailer truck with license plate ACN 9666 and trailer bed license plate BUF 185 made a stopover in Aritao, Nueva Vizcaya when the carjackers handcuffed and blindfolded them and commandeered the trailer truck loaded with approximately 40 tons of corn.
The cargo of the truck was offered to a certain Joey Valino Villacorta who called the owner of the truck to verify and confirm the delivery but was told that the delivery was supposed to be in Batangas City.
The information was relayed to the 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company who intercepted the vehicle in Barangay Sampaloc in San Rafael but the suspects started shooting at the police operatives who returned fire.
Visible from the crime scene were one .45 caliber pistol and a 9 mm pistol.
The two carjackers were wounded in the exchange of gunfire and were rushed to the Baliuag District Hospital for medical treatments but eventually succumbed to their gunshot wounds.
