22 mayoral candidates in Central Luzon unopposed in the 2025 midterm elections

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — A total of 22 mayoral candidates in the 2025 midterm national and local elections will be running unopposed.

This was confirmed on Wednesday to ARKIPELAGO NEWS BULACAN by Atty. Elmo Duque, spokesperson and assistant regional director of the Commission on Elections in Central Luzon.

Although Duque did not name specific candidates, he mentioned that the 22 unopposed mayoral candidates include three in Aurora, four in Bataan, three in Bulacan, five in Nueva Ecija, four in Pampanga, and three in Zambales.

In the congressional race, one candidate is running unopposed in each of the provinces of Aurora, Bataan, Pampanga, Tarlac, and Zambales.

Additionally, Duque noted that Zambales is the only province with unopposed candidates for both the gubernatorial and vice-gubernatorial positions.
