3 communist rebels lay down arms in Bataan, Zambales, Tarlac
Mon Lazaro January 16, 2024 at 05:38 PMCAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — Three communist rebels from the provinces of Bataan, Zambales and Tarlac have laid down their arms and surrendered to the government on Monday (January 15).
Reports reaching Brig. Gen. Jose Hidalgo Jr., regional police director of Central Luzon, identified the rebel returnees as Ka Keno in Bataan, Ka Loi in Zambales and alias Eliong in Tarlac.
Ka Keno, a former member of Sandatahang Yunit Pamproganda that operates in Bataan voluntarily surrendered to Regional Mobile Force Battalion 3 in Lubao Pampanga and turned over his .38 caliber revolver pistol and ammunition.
Ka Loi, a former communist group member, handed over his improvised shotgun, grenade launcher ammunition and subversive documents that provided vital information to the police for its anti-local insurgency campaign.
Eliong, a communist group member laid down his home-made shotgun and explosive materials to Tarlac PNP.
Hidalgo said the Central Luzon PNP together with all member agencies of the Regional Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict in the region “will continue this whole of sector approach against communist terrorists to achieve peace and national unity.”
