CAMP ALEJO SANTOS, Bulacan – A total of 30 hogs infected with African Swine Fever (ASF) were condemned, culled, and buried in Guiguinto, Bulacan on Monday night.
The Provincial Engineering Office compound in Guiguinto has been designated by the Bureau of Animal Industry and allocated by Gov. Daniel Fernando as one of the disposal sites for hogs that tested positive for ASF, according to Dr. Voltaire Basinang, the provincial veterinarian of Bulacan.
Reports reaching Col. Initial investigations revealed that the animals originated from Barangay Tipakan, Lipa City, Batangas, and were destined for Novaliches, Quezon City, when they were intercepted and tested positive for ASF.
On Monday night, the ASF-infected hogs were escorted by personnel from the Bulacan Police First Provincial Mobile Force Company to the designated disposal site in Guiguinto.
The culling and proper disposal of the ASF-infected hogs were overseen by personnel from the Animal Health and Regulatory Division, the Provincial Veterinary Office, the Bureau of Animal Industry, and the overall supervisor of National Capital Region checkpoints.
Meanwhile, the truck, driver, and crew were taken into custody by the Bureau of Animal Industry for further disposition.
