CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — Bulacan police nabbed six of eight suspects who abducted, badly assaulted, and robbed a 71-year-old man. The victim managed to escape his attackers to seek help before succumbing to his injuries.
A report reaching Brig. Gen. Jose Hidalgo Jr., Central Luzon regional police director, identified the victim as Herminigildo Estonilo, a resident of Block 33 Lot 30, Grand Villas, Barangay Loma de Gato, Marilao, Bulacan.
The arrested suspects were identified as Russel, Jimmy, Jenny, Madel, Rowena, and Raquel, while their two cohorts who eluded arrest were identified as Putot and Inday.
Initial investigations showed that Estonilo was walking in Kelsey Hills Subdivision, Barangay Muzon Proper in the City of San Jose del Monte around 5:25 pm on Friday when the suspects, on board a black Mitsubishi Adventure, stopped and forcibly abducted him.
The victim was beaten black and blue by the suspects, who took his P21,000 in cash and assorted jewelry worth P320,000.
As the suspects were busy with their loot, Estonilo was able to escape and managed to seek the help of the duty security guard of the subdivision.
Upon receiving the report, the local police conducted a hot-pursuit operation that resulted in the arrest of the six suspects and the recovery of the stolen items and the getaway vehicle, while two of their cohorts were able to elude arrest.
Police also seized a .38 caliber revolver with four live bullets, an improvised handgun (sumpak), and four live ammunition rounds of a 12-gauge shotgun.
The victim was rushed to a hospital for medical attention but later died from the injuries he sustained from his attackers.
