896 personalities arrested by Laguna PNP’s anti-criminality campaign

STA. CRUZ, Laguna — In the Anti-Criminality Operations led by Police Colonel Gauvin Mel Y Unos, Acting Provincial Director of the Laguna Police Provincial Office, 896 personalities were arrested.

Throughout July 2024, the Laguna PPO’s Anti-Criminality Operational Accomplishments focused on intensifying the fight against illegal narcotics, illegal gambling, wanted individuals, and loose firearms across the province.

The Laguna PNP conducted 174 operations against illegal narcotics, leading to the apprehension of 209 drug suspects. Seized from these suspects were 290.18 grams of suspected shabu, 102.30 grams of marijuana, and four Ecstasy tablets, with a combined estimated value of PHP 1,992,300. Among those apprehended were five High Value Individuals (HVI) and 202 Street Level Individuals (SLI).

In anti-illegal gambling operations, 215 individuals were arrested in 197 operations targeting illegal number games, or “bookies,” while 171 individuals involved in other forms of gambling were arrested in 74 operations. The suspects had a total of PHP 144,480 in bet money.

Additionally, 89 of the most wanted individuals were apprehended (18 at the regional level, 26 at the provincial level, and 45 at the city/municipal level), along with 198 other persons.

In operations against loose firearms, the Laguna PNP conducted 51 operations, confiscating 52 loose firearms and arresting 14 individuals.

Furthermore, checkpoints and “Oplan Sita” (operation against traffic rule violations) led to the arrest and search of 1,179 individuals who disobeyed traffic laws and 27,511 others for breaking local ordinances.
